HOOLIGAN RACE REPORT - Round 1, Greenfield Dirttrack

DANNY WILLIAMS SCORES AGE OF GLORY x PCC BMW R9T HOOLIGANS BEST FINISH!

Following a week of rain, Saturday's racing saw perfect racing conditions at Greenfield Dirttrack in Lincolnshire, and the glorious weather brought along an action packed day of riding fast and turning left.

Following a few technical gremlins which couldn't be fixed trackside, we had to run a sole AOG x PCC BMW R9T in the first round of the DTRA Hooligan series. Our new rider for 2023, Danny Williams (former DTRA Rookie, Intermediate and Vintage podium finisher) had been putting in the hours on our second bike at the Isle of Wight and Greenfield in pre-season and was raring to go.
The Hooligan field is stacked this year with machines from Ducati, Indian, Harley and Triumph, so we were itching to see where we would slot in amongst the top riders. A few new faces were making their debut too, most notably was Gérard Bailo - current FIM Flat Track World Champion!
Danny started the day strong by finishing practice in second spot, second only behind 2021 and 2022 champion Jack Bell on the Devitt Vanoni Ducati. Three swift heats followed and Danny accumulated enough Heat points to start on the front row - not bad for a debut in the class, we're sure you'd agree.
The Final started strong with Danny getting off of the line in fourth and he went about pushed the current World Champion hard in the early stages of the race, often choosing to ride a wide line to search for the grip. An eventual fourth placed finish saw the best result for our BMW R9T Hooligan machine.
Our next weekend of riding will see us racing in Peterborough at the MCN Festival in 13th & 14th May. This event will host both Round 2 and Round 3 of the Hooligan DTRA championship, and we'll be joined by Chris Northover on our second bike! Be sure to come and say hello if you're heading over.
Thanks to our partners for supporting our racing; Age Of Glory, BMW Motorrad, Dunlop Motorcycle Tyres, DNA Performance Filters & Putoline.
